Casino as a "Place"

Casino’s which are being built more and more now a days, could be considered as “places”, where the scenery of most form a casual comfortable surrounding. I found it quite interesting when looking at a casino as a “Place” and is something I wanted to share with you guys since we never really discussed upon it in class. For instance, Atlantic City’s most popular casinos, and certainly tops as far as casino Player readers are concerned, is “Harrah’s”. The colourful marine theme is carried through the casino floor, beginning with custom carpeting in a tidal pool motif, and continuing with blue cathode lighting, which simulates the movement of the ocean. Columns throughout the casino contain subtle lighting. All of this water design is home to more than 2,700 slot and video poker machines, as well 82 table games. This detailed surrounding makes this casino a comfortable, casual “place” to play. (Harrah’s is frequently the first place to find new slot games). Casino’s built today are being created with a rather luxurious look to them which unifies the “space” and attracts people to the gaming within, creating a great “place” to play and multiple spaces within to party and hang out for social engagements, just have a good time, etc. Casinos are constructing sceneries of numerous innovative, multi-themed layouts of particular places around the world which provides gamblers with a variety of environmental “spaces” to play in, without having to leave the casino. All I have to say is that a casino could be the most addicting place you’ll ever encounter, from personal experience; I’m sure those of you who gamble here and there would agree!
