With the rise of information and communication technologies (ICTs) new spaces and networks of online communities are being created. ICTs can help disabled people to overcome environmental, social and structural barriers of society. Disabled people have a chance to purse their rights and exercise their responsibilities on a global scale. For example, the internet technology makes things possible and services accessible directly into disabled people’s homes thus reducing the need to travel or rely on others for assistance. I would say that access to assistive technology is vital for the liberation of disabled people in the rapidly changing world of advanced technology. Disabled people in today’s world are isolated by social and physical barriers and the internet can provide new ways for disabled people to obtain the information they need in formats which are accessible. Cyberspace not only has the potential to join isolated people but also it is a way to connect disable people to advocates and social movements. It is a continuing process of connecting and forming online communities. For disabled people cyberspace is not only a means of connecting but also a means of overcoming social, structural and environmental barriers. In the end most importantly technology can help to create virtual communities for disabled people. Communities that are free of limitations of place. ICTs can enable disabled people to meet others who share their ideas and interests regardless of geographical barriers.
